COPE time change + considering endorsement for AD 17

August and September COPE meetings to begin at 1:30pm + considering endorsement for AD 17

Our next COPE meeting will be Tuesday, August 31st 1:30-3:00pm LINK.

We will be having discussion and Q&A with Supervisor Matt Haney, chair of the BOS Budget & Finance committee and candidate potential upcoming vacancy for Assemblymember in District 17. Come discuss what we need from a champion in the state assembly and ask questions about the recent budget process and support for CCSF. We will also be discussing ways to get out the ‘NO’ vote for the September 14th governor’s recall vote.

Our September COPE meeting will be held Tuesday, September 21st at 1:30pm and we will consider a potential endorsement for Assemblymember in AD 17.

Defend public education- vote NO on the recall

There is a Republican-funded, anti-union effort to recall Governor Newsom. If successful, it’s possible that this could shift the national balance of power between Democrats and Republicans in favor of the Republican side. This could roll back progress in every conceivable area: public education, labor rights, minimum wage, criminal justice, climate justice, and more.

Recent polling for the California recall election shows a virtual tie between yes and no voters.

The election is on September 14 and ballots have been mailed to all registered voters. The California Labor Federation is holding statewide phone banks to union members every Tuesday and Thursday. Our state affiliate, the California Federation of Teachers, has adopted August 24 and August 26. Please plan to join us on one or both of those phone bank nights. This recall election is a direct attack on our values.
