Tell SF Sups to save Spring 2020 classes

TELL SF SUPERVISORS TO ALLOCATE BRIDGE FUNDING FOR RESTORATION OF CCSF SPRING CLASSES NOW!

Just before midnight on November 19th, CCSF administration cut just under 300 classes from the Spring 2020 schedule. This represents a further cut of 13% to an already drastically reduced schedule, putting students at risk of not being able to complete their degrees and others left without the educational opportunities they need and deserve.

An AFT 2121 delegation will meet with supervisors this week, but we need your help getting their support! PLEASE call and email each supervisor and to ask them to vote on Dec. 10 in favor of allocating emergency bridge funding for funding to restore the Spring Schedule!

Calls are the most effective tactic, but if you are unable to call, you can email. Below is a suggested message and the contact information you need. Please email each supervisor and the mayor separately and cc CCSF’s Board of Trustees and Chancellor Rocha in every message you send.

Dear _________,

Just before midnight on November 19th, CCSF administration cut just under 300 classes fro the Spring 2020 schedule. This represents a further cut of 13% to an already drastically reduced schedule, putting students at risk of not being able to complete their degrees and others left without the educational opportunities they need and deserve.

The cuts were implemented to address a budget shortfall which is largely due to the disconnect between what the state is willing to fund for its community colleges and what San Francisco wants its community college to be. The administration has identified that $3.3 million is necessary to restore the classes.

Please vote on Dec. 10 to allocate emergency bridge funding to ensure that City College of San Francisco remains the Community College the city wants and needs.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
_________

Thank you for standing up and fighting back against class cuts!

Last Tuesday (11/26) we had actions at almost every campus and scores of students, staff, and faculty signed our CHEF letter demanding our college to be fully funded. We are hurting and it means a lot to join together. Thank you to the over one hundred people who have lost classes and filled out our class cuts form. Some of the stories are powerful and compelling and we will be reaching out to ask that you come and tell our Trustees. We need to push them to restore essential classes and programs. In the meantime mark your calendars for the next Board of Trustees meeting: Thursday, December 12th, 4pm
