Still Fighting to Restore 2020 classes: Rally at Chinatown Monday (12/16)

CHINATOWN CAMPUS SPEAKS OUT ON CLASS CUTS

RALLY at Chinatown Campus

Monday, December 16, 12:00 pm

Instructors and students at the Chinatown Campus will host a speak-out against the cuts to the 300 classes canceled in the midnight massacre! They will remind the Board Of Supervisors of the need to approve Supervisor Shamann Walton’s ordinance to allocate 2.7 million dollars to save our Spring 2020 classes as we organize for long-term solutions. AFT 2121 is grateful for the continued activism of the Chinatown campus community! They are calling for all of the Board Of Supervisors who have not signed on the Walton ordinance to do so.

Come out to the rally!

Subject Line:   Co-sponsor ordinance NOW for CCSF’s Future

Dear _________,

As you know, just before midnight on November 19th, CCSF administration cancelled just under 300 classes from the Spring 2020 schedule. This represents a further cut of 13% to an already drastically reduced schedule, putting students at risk of not being able to complete their degrees and others left without the educational opportunities they need and deserve.

The cuts were implemented to address a budget shortfall which is largely due to the disconnect between what the state is willing to fund for its community colleges and what San Francisco wants its community college to provide. The administration has identified that $2.7 million is necessary to restore the classes.

Please sign on to the ordinance to provide this funding by December 17th! We need to ensure that City College of San Francisco remains the Community College the city wants and needs.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
_________
