Faculty affected by class cuts: Skill Share session on unemployment and health benefits | Calendar Survey

Skill Share Session: Unemployment and medical insurance
This is especially for faculty who lost classes and/or health insurance with the recent class cuts. The process of applying for unemployment and health insurance can be daunting. To alleviate some of the stress and to connect with colleagues who have done this in the past, we’re setting up a Skill Share session for early January.

Skill Share Session
Tuesday, January 7th
11 a.m.
Mission Campus (room TBD)

Bring a laptop!

This session is for you if:

  • You want to learn more about applying for unemployment insurance, Covered California, or MediCal.
  • You have successfully applied for unemployment insurance, Covered California, or MediCal recently and can share your expertise.
  • You are distressed by the impact of these cuts and want to help fellow faculty who have been affected. This is a great way to get show support and get involved. Come spend some time with other part-timers who are going through this stressful experience, possibly for the first time.

Please complete this form to RSVP and let us know you’ll be there!

Remember, you have colleagues who care and want to help.

Additional resources:

— If you currently have health insurance through CCSF but will lose benefits Spring semester, you can keep your insurance through January 31. Depending on your specific situation, you may have to pay your January premium to HR by December 27th. Please see our 12/9/19 message for a full explanation.

— If you apply for Covered California by January 15, you should be covered starting February 1.

— To maximize unemployment benefits, apply right away. Part-time faculty are eligible whether or not you expect to have a Spring assignment. Detailed instructions on our unemployment page.

Survey for 2020/21 Academic Calendar
Please note there is a mistake in the Summer calendar of the District’s proposal. They list the dates for the 8-week session as Jul 8 – Aug 2. It should be Jun 8 – Aug 2.
