Emergency Funds for CCSF!

CCSF Needs Funds Now

Hello all,

We had a great day of actions on Tuesday! Many students and faculty came out to denounce the cuts and support the Community Higher Education Fund. The message being sent is very clear: it is time to fully fund CCSF and stop the downsizing of this extremely important community institution!

Now its time to take that message to our elected leaders. We need to directly tell the Board of Supervisors that CCSF needs funds now if we are to reinstate classes for Spring 2020. Call your District Supervisor if you live in San Francisco and ask them to vote on Dec. 10 in favor of allocating emergency bridge funding to restore the Spring Schedule!

Calls are most effective but if you’re unable to do one, please send an email in support of emergency funds for CCSF. Below is a suggested message and the contact information for all Supervisors.

Suggested Message:
Subject Line:   Urgent Request for CCSF’s Students
Dear _________,

Just before midnight on November 19th, CCSF administration cut just under 300 classes fro the Spring 2020 schedule. This represents a further cut of 13% to an already drastically reduced schedule, putting students at risk of not being able to complete their degrees and others left without the educational opportunities they need and deserve.

The cuts were implemented to address a budget shortfall which is largely due to the disconnect between what the state is willing to fund for its community colleges and what San Francisco wants its community college to be. The administration has identified that $3.3 million is necessary to restore the classes.

Please vote on Dec. 10 to allocate emergency bridge funding to ensure that City College of San Francisco remains the Community College the city wants and needs.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
_________
