Chicago teachers and support staff are on strike for the common good!
More than 32,000 Chicago teachers and school support staff are on strike. They’re not just striking for higher wages or better benefits, but to build the schools that Chicago children need and deserve. Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot campaigned on these issues but refuses to put those promises into writing in the contract.
Here Are Some Ways You Can Support Them:
- Hit the Streets! If you have family, allies, or friends in the Windy City make sure they follow the CTU’s website for daily information on picket lines at schools across Chicago.
- Contribute to the Strike’s Solidarity Fund. You can donate directly to CTU to cover strike materials and personnel here (scroll down and to the right).
- Wear RED every day of the Strike to show your solidarity. If you live outside of Chicago, take a photo and post or tweet it while tagging @CTULocal1 and @SEIU73, and the hashtags #CTUSEIUstrike #PutItInWriting #FairContractNow.
There are even more ways to plug in listed on CTU’s Solidarity Page.
