Salarygate
Last week, the CCSF Board of Trustees passed a
two-phase proposal on administrator salaries. We are grateful that our members were joined by the broader community over the last few weeks in protest of the original excessive salary increases.
AFT 2121 acknowledges complaints aired last week from some individual administrators that we used their names on signs with their new proposed salaries. We worked from
organizational charts and
salary schedule comparisons when we made the signs and it was always our intention simply to highlight the excessive raises.
AFT 2121 understands that every student worker, classified staff, faculty and administrator deserves a fair pay check. And we continue to demand that in this time of severe class cuts and faculty and counselor lay-offs, the budget prioritize our students by Restoring classes, re-hiring counselors, re-funding resource centers. Finally, we remain optimistic that our college community can work in collaboration to address these challenges in a transparent and fair way that ensures the best outcomes for our students and our community.
Our 2018-2021 contract is now complete and posted!
It’s never too early to start thinking about our next round of negotiations for the 2021-2024 contract. That process will start Fall 2020. If there are things you want changed in the current contract, it would be good to start thinking now about what proposals you would like to have our team make at the bargaining table.

Sign the petition: Lecturer denied leave after emergency surgery
Our colleague Andrew Tonkovitch, who has taught writing and been a UC-AFT activist at UC Irvine for more than 20 years, just had emergency brain surgery. He’s also experiencing complications during recovery.
On a technicality, UCI denied him paid medical leave twice. To add insult to injury, UCI is trying to take back salary Andrew received earlier this summer and the employer-paid portion of his insurance premiums. It’s up to us to help!

(10/12) AFT 2121 joins SF Rising Action Fund to mobilize for Chesa Boudin for District Attorney
As the only Public Defender running for DA, Chesa understands firsthand how broken the criminal justice system is, and he’s running to transform it. That means focusing resources on repairing our communities and using alternatives to incarceration whenever possible, rather than forcefully continuing our current system of mass incarceration.
Chesa has committed to ending cash bail, ensuring San Franciscans are protected from immigration authorities, and holding police accountable. And now we must get him elected. This race will be close, and every voter we can talk to before the election will make a difference. Please join us in talking with our neighbors and working towards justice for all.
On October 12 from 12pm-4pm
Impact Hub SF (1885 Mission St, SF)
