(Wed. 6/19) Support our UC Berkeley colleagues in bargaining
UC-AFT is the union that represents lecturers and librarians in the UC system. Lecturers in the UC system teach 30-40% of the classes but without tenure, and therefore without job security. Many have part-time annual contracts, and more than one-thirdwork without access to healthcare or pension benefits. In fact, because so many are appointed part-time, the median annual salary for a UC Lecturer in 2017 was a measly $19,900.
They need our help fighting for job security, better benefits, and a living wage.
Wednesday, June 19th, 10am-4pm.
University Hall (corner of University and Oxford)
To shock and awe the UC negotiators and maximize power before the talks begin they are requesting supporters join them outside the building at 9:45am and enter the building with them at 10am.
If you cannot join in the morning, join at noon for a rally outside of University Hall. Their labor choir will sing and the union president will give a recap of what is going inside.

For those teaching summer session, attendance reporting has been tricky. Wilbur Wu is working on it, and he’s sending out important notices by email. Please do not assume you have all the information from your personal email. Check your ccsf.edu address.

Hope you are having a great summer so far! AFT 2121 and Peralta Federation of Teachers members started our summer by visiting our faculty colleagues in the East Bay and San Francisco, to talk with them about all the good work our Unions are doing and to ask them to join.
