Déjà Vu: Mass grievance over denials of undergrad courses
Last semester, AFT filed a mass grievance over unilateral denials for pre-approval of undergraduate coursework. We demanded accountability from Tom Boegel and we won approval for the denied requests because of the direct-action our members took in collectively attending the grievance meeting.
Now the Office of Instruction is
again denying pre-approval requests from faculty hoping to take undergrad courses for professional development and salary column movement credit. AFT is challenging what is now a second unilateral suspension of the provision in the contract allowing for such approval and salary column credit. We expect to file a mass grievance early next week and want to hear from you! If you were denied, be sure to contact AFT and sign on to the mass grievance. Email
afredricks@aft2121.org and include the information
here.
DA next week
All AFT 2121 members are invited to attend our first Delegate Assembly meeting of the semester on Tuesday, 1/29 from 3-5pm on Ocean Campus in MUB 238.
Growing Our College
While we have staved off a huge number of class cuts this semester, we need to stay vigilant. That’s why our elected leaders and rank-and-file members have been working together on a long-term strategy to fight against downsizing our college and for a community college with robust and diverse offerings that serve all the communities of SF.
We invite all 2121 members to join this effort at our next Delegate Assembly.
COPE Steering Committee
The COPE Steering Committee is responsible for our union’s efforts to build power for our members, students and the communities we live in. All AFT 2121 members are more than welcome to attend.
