Negotiations Update

AFT and the District are making progress on reaching a Tentative Agreement on a new three-year contract, which, as its cornerstone, would restore faculty salaries to at least the median of Bay 10 community colleges, with pay increases for part-time faculty based on current pro-rata.

Recent agreements include:

  • Full-time faculty would be eligible for new “longevity” pay steps based NOT on years of District service but rather on a continuation of step advancement beyond step 16 counting years at steps 16 and 17. Read our conceptual explanation of longevity steps;
  • Part-time “mirror” steps: new step 14 in year 2 with possibility of steps 15 and 16 tied to budget contingencies. Read the District’s most recent proposal on PT “mirror” steps;
  • Classes/Sections designated as “conference” in 2015/16 shall receive the lecture load of 100% including those currently designated “lab”;
  • Increasing lab loads of allied health clinicals to 85%;
  • Ongoing joint discussions during the three-year contract over: (1) CCSF budget analysis with potential for additional salary improvements if District reaches its budget goals; (2) sabbatical review and application process, potential for increasing pay for one-year sabbaticals; (3) AB 119 Union access to onboarding and new faculty orientations; (4) Column movement opportunities for faculty on column E to column F; (5) forensic instructors: potential eligibility for coaching compensation; (6) faculty professional duties, committee work, etc.

What’s next?

During this contract campaign we have always been the strongest when we’ve come together collectively in AFT 2121’s Open Negotiations Sessions. We need to work this week to encourage the District Negotiation team to stay on the right track as we come down the home stretch.

So, instead of a rally we ask everyone to attend our Open Negotiations session this Wednesday 5/2 at any point between 1-5pm in MUB 238. Full event details…

Come to Open Negotiations and show CCSF Administration we support settling a contract that will foster stability and protect educational quality. Please wear your union T-shirt or your “We are all CCSF” button in Solidarity with our AFT 2121 Bargaining Team.

Ongoing ways to support:

  • Sponsor a Teach-in by a Bargaining Team Member at your department. Contact Athena Waid at 415-585-2121 to set it up.
  • Wear your AFT 2121 t-shirt or button every Wednesday (or any day!) until we have a contract. If you’re able, we ask that you come together in unity on Wednesdays with your AFT-2121 t-shirts or buttons, take a solidarity photo, and send photos to organizer Athena Waid (awaid@aft2121.org).
  • Re-commit to our Union this semester by signing our new gold card membership form — with its loud, proud commitment to “stick with our union” for a full calendar year.
