(Fri. 4/20) AFT 2121 new Executive Director hiring

Four highly qualified finalists have emerged in our Executive Board’s selection process for a new Executive Director. We are scheduling an opportunity for Union members to meet the candidates on Friday, April 20, in MUB 238/248 from 1-5 p.m. On Friday there will be paper copies available of each candidates resume. Members will have the opportunity to sit down with each candidate for conversation over the course of the afternoon, and to give feedback on their impressions of each candidate to the hiring committee.

We will begin each candidate’s session at the top of the hour, so we ask that members attending only some of the sessions please arrive and depart at the top of the hour so as to minimize disruption.

(Sat. 4/21) What California labor history has to tell us about resistance in the age of Trump

AFT 2121 member Fred Glass has an op ed in Monday’s SF Chronicle on the current wave of teacher militancy. Fred will be giving a talk illustrated with historic film clips this Saturday. His book, From Mission to Microchip: A History of the California Labor Movement (UC Press, 2016), will be on sale at a discounted price for 2121 members following the program. Light refreshments will be served.

Join us for a happy hour on the anniversary of our very first strike. On April 27, 2016 more than a thousand people came out to help AFT 2121 faculty defend the City College that San Francisco Deserves!
