Today from 1-2:30pm, join AFT 2121 for a forum examining affordable housing in the Bay Area. As we prepare for our upcoming contract negotiations, a major issue for City College faculty is the soaring cost of living in SF, especially the cost of housing. We at CCSF feel the impacts of the affordability crisis on our budgets and paychecks. As the college builds on Free City and faces another wave of retirements, these astronomical costs affect the City College’s ability to attract and retain new faculty. We achieved a much needed raise in our last contract — and we have more work to do.
Matt Hardy of the United Educators of San Francisco will explain how his union used their contract struggle to address teachers’ housing, Maurice Goodman, Trustee at San Mateo Community College District, will outline SMCC’s faculty and staff housing program, and Tony Kelly, president of the Potrero Hill Democratic Club, will explain how we can make sure San Francisco educators are able to live in the communities we serve.
The Affordable Housing Forum will be held today, May 11 from 1-2:30pm at the Ocean Campus in the Student Lounge of the Student Union Building. Please join us!
